[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] Former Minister of SMEs and Startups Park Young-sun has broken her silence and begun active political activities for the Seoul mayoral election.

On the 23rd, former Minister Park said on her Twitter, "The pause is over. Movement begins," adding, "I am making my first sortie upon the party's call."

Former Minister Park said, "I had my first meeting with Candidate Woo Sang-ho alongside the party leader. My heart is pounding," and added, "Last February, during the first shock of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), I visited Namdaemun Market with the President to encourage small business owners. It was there that the 'Good Landlord Movement' began, a place with warm hearts that melt the winter. I am going there."

On that day, former Minister Park attended the on-site visit to Namdaemun Market with Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon and her intra-party primary competitor, Representative Woo Sang-ho.

Former Minister Park and Representative Woo are the two main candidates of the Democratic Party for the upcoming Seoul mayoral by-election scheduled for April.

Earlier, in the early hours of the 22nd, former Minister Park said, "Switching modes is not easy. The day before yesterday, I said farewell to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and yesterday, I had a farewell dinner with the President, whom I wanted to serve until the end," adding, "I will fill myself well and empty myself well to become a Park Young-sun who is not ashamed in the eyes of the citizens. It is said that if you beat others, you become first place, but if you beat yourself, you become world-class. I will beat myself," expressing her determination.
