[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] In Busan, the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is spreading mainly through early childhood home visits and large public bathhouses.
Busan City announced on the 23rd that as of the afternoon of the previous day (22nd), 5 people tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total confirmed cases to 2,524. Two additional cases were confirmed in the cluster infection from early childhood home visits, which had already reported 19 confirmed cases until the previous day.
Previously, the early childhood home visit teacher infected a child's guardian during class, then the guardian's acquaintance was infected, and this time, two contacts of the acquaintance tested positive.
Within a week, 21 people including children and guardians were confirmed positive, spreading COVID-19 'n-th generation infections' into the local community. Meanwhile, three other confirmed cases are related to the large public bathhouse Heoshimcheong in Dongnae-gu.
The first confirmed case, number 2218, infected a user at Heoshimcheong, then the user's family, then an acquaintance of the family, followed by contacts of the acquaintance, and finally three contacts of those contacts, resulting in a chain infection over five generations.
Health authorities urged, "There are many recent cases with unclear infection sources," and requested, "As chain and cluster infections continue, please strictly follow quarantine guidelines."
