[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The impeachment article against former President Donald Trump, passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, will be sent to the Senate on the 25th.

On the 22nd (local time), CNN reported that Chuck Schumer, Senate Majority Leader of the Democratic Party, stated that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will send the impeachment article to the Senate.

Leader Schumer said that once the House submits the impeachment article to the Senate, the Senate will conduct the impeachment trial against Donald Trump, adding, "It will be a full trial. It will be a fair trial."

Speaker Pelosi had not specified the timing of sending the impeachment article to the Senate until the day before, but has now finalized the schedule.

It remains uncertain when the impeachment trial proceedings in the Senate will begin. Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader of the Republican Party, mentioned the day before that former President Trump should be given a two-week preparation period.

The delay in starting the Senate impeachment trial against former President Trump could mean gaining time for the Biden administration’s cabinet confirmations and the legislation of economic stimulus measures. The Associated Press reported that the impeachment trial is likely to begin around mid-February.
