[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 22nd that it has established the '2021 Integrity Practice Public-Private Governance Operation Plan' to spread a culture of integrity among students, parents, and the local community, and will continue active integrity activities.
Established in 2011, the Integrity Practice Public-Private Governance currently consists of six public and private organizations including the Gyeongbuk Office of Education Audit Officer, Pohang YMCA, Safety Keeper Movement Headquarters, Gyeongbuk Office of Education Public Officials Labor Union, School Operation Committee Chairpersons Association, and the Green Mothers' Association.
Until now, anti-corruption and integrity activities were mainly promoted centered on the Office of Education, but they have now expanded to include private organizations. The Office of Education plans to start the first non-face-to-face meeting of the Integrity Practice Public-Private Governance on the 27th and, after collecting various opinions from each organization, will promote integrity activities.
In particular, this year, various non-face-to-face events will be promoted, such as the 'Integrity Golden Bell Quiz' using an online video system targeting students and parents, integrity policies using SNS, and publicity for reporting corruption.
Last year, despite the COVID-19 situation, together with the Public Officials Labor Union and the Green Mothers' Association, a 'Safe School Zone Integrity Campaign' was conducted targeting about 800 students, parents, and local residents on the school route of Andong Pungcheon Pungseo Elementary School.
Additionally, together with Pohang YMCA, youth integrity and sex education was conducted under the theme 'A Clean World, a Fun and Safe Online Space' for about 900 students from eight schools in the district.
Audit Officer Kim Hye-jung said, "Integrity is the competitiveness of organizations and the nation, and it is necessary to actively approach it using various content compared to the past," adding, "We will spare no administrative support so that the governance formed under the theme of anti-corruption and integrity can actively work to spread a culture of integrity in the education field and local community."
