[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-chul] Wonju City, Gangwon Province announced on the 22nd that "outdoor operations of food service establishments will be allowed starting this year in accordance with the revision and promulgation of the Enforcement Rules of the Food Sanitation Act."
According to the city, this applies only to general restaurants, rest restaurants, and bakeries where the indoor business area and the outdoor business area are directly adjacent. However, outdoor cooking activities are not permitted, and only food cooked and processed indoors may be served.
In particular, if complaints arise due to noise, odor, hygiene, or safety caused by outdoor operations, immediate improvements must be made.
To conduct outdoor operations, the location, restriction requirements, and safety facility standards must be met, and a prior report of business area changes must be completed depending on whether outdoor operations are possible. Violations will result in administrative actions such as correction orders and business suspension.
If the total floor area of the first floor after reporting the business area change is 100㎡ or more, disaster liability insurance must be subscribed.
Meanwhile, outdoor business areas are subject to the same social distancing rules as indoor business areas; gatherings of five or more people are prohibited under social distancing level 2, and dining inside the store is allowed only until 9 p.m.
