Junyong Shin, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Peace Cooperation Bureau [Provided by Gyeonggi-do]
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 22nd that "Shin Jun-young, Secretary General of the Nonprofit Organization South-North Historians Association, has been appointed as the new Director of the Peace Cooperation Bureau."
The newly appointed Director of the Peace Cooperation Bureau, Shin Jun-young, graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy. He is known as an expert on North Korea, having served as a North Korea correspondent for Monthly Mal Co., Ltd., editor-in-chief of Minjok 21 Co., Ltd., Secretary General of the South-North Academic Exchange Association, and Secretary General of the South-North Historians Association.
Director Shin will be responsible for developing specific peace cooperation policies, establishing a peace foundation, facilitating inter-Korean exchange and cooperation, preserving and developing the DMZ, and matters related to international peace cooperation. He will play a role in laying the groundwork for peace on the Korean Peninsula at the local government level.
Director Shin expressed his ambition, stating, "I will actively strive to discover projects in non-military and non-political fields to open the way for inter-Korean exchange and cooperation."
Meanwhile, the Peace Cooperation Bureau plans to promote sustainable inter-Korean exchange and cooperation projects this year, establish comprehensive plans for the peaceful use of the Han River Estuary joint waters and the DMZ, and implement projects such as Let's DMZ.
