Increased Demand for Healthy Food After COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Pulmuone Danone announced on the 22nd that sales of 'Greek' through large mart online channels increased by 54% compared to the previous year.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, Pulmuone Danone explained that sales in neighborhood commercial channels, which are conveniently accessible near homes, also grew by 50% compared to the previous year as consumption within living areas increased.
The increase in Greek's sales is analyzed to be caused by the rising interest in personal health, the spread of trends seeking healthy and delicious food, and the emergence of 'home training' consumers who enjoy exercise and healthy diets at home as a major consumer group. Differentiated product quality is also one of the factors for sales growth. Greek contains twice the protein compared to milk (per 100g) and uses authentic Greek probiotics originating from Crete Island, Greece, providing the unique flavor and texture of Greek yogurt.
After expanding the yogurt production line in Muju last September and more than doubling production capacity, Pulmuone Danone plans to expand the supply of major brand products not only for Greek but also for Activia, I Love Yogurt, and Solution.
