[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seongjang Hyun) resumed the partial reopening of Yongsan Craft Center on the 19th.
Yongsan Craft Center is located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul (274 Itaewon-ro). The facility has 3 basement floors and 4 above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,800㎡. It includes a craft product sales area (1st floor), a ceramics and hanbok experience center (2nd floor), a craft learning center and workshop (3rd floor), and an exhibition hall and outdoor performance venue (4th floor).
The partially reopened facility is the craft product sales area on the 1st floor. Along with the reopening, the district introduced a New Year special exhibition titled ‘Seogijipmun (瑞氣集門·Good fortune gathers at the gate)’ featuring invited artist Bokyeong Jeon.
The exhibition period runs until March 14.
Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We have resumed the opening of the craft center, which was suspended last month in accordance with social distancing guidelines. We also hope for much interest in the ‘Light of Hope’ VR exhibition continuing until the end of February.”
The district also operates a VR exhibition hall for Yongsan Craft Center. Various traditional craft works can be enjoyed for free on the craft center’s website. When social distancing measures are eased, the district plans to resume programs such as daily experiences, craft classes, and neighborhood learning centers.
