Governor Kim Kyung-soo Proposes Fostering High Value-Added Logistics Processing Industry and Passing the Gadeok New Airport Special Act
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok visited the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Office on the 21st.
This was the first time a National Assembly Speaker visited since the provincial office was established in Changwon.
Governor Kim Kyung-soo requested cooperation at the National Assembly level, saying, "It is important to combine manufacturing and logistics to develop a high value-added logistics industry and create a Northeast Asia logistics hub."
He also stated, "Gadeok New Airport is not just about passenger flights coming and going, but unlike Gimhae Airport, it is an economic new airport essential for future industries in the region with 24-hour cargo transport capability," and urged, "Please pay attention to ensure the 'Gadeok New Airport Special Act' is promptly passed in the National Assembly."
The 'Gadeok New Airport Special Act,' proposed separately by the Democratic Party and the People Power Party in November last year, is expected to be merged and reviewed by the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee.
The Democratic Party aims to pass the special act within the February extraordinary session of the National Assembly.
Speaker Park mentioned proactive and systematic quarantine measures covering adjacent cities and provinces, the promotion of smart green industrial complexes, and the initial proposal of emergency disaster relief funds.
He added, "The metropolitan area has problems due to excess, and local areas have problems due to shortage; to solve this, the concept of a megacity is essential," and evaluated, "Gyeongnam is playing a leading role in this."
After receiving reports on local issues at the provincial office, Speaker Park visited Doosan Heavy Industries, which is focusing on fostering the eco-friendly energy sector.
