Gurye-gun Actively Promotes 'Local Tax Unclaimed Refund Recovery' Initiative

Approximately 300 Cases of Small Local Tax Refunds Unclaimed, Amounting to 6 Million Won

Proactive Administration Contacting Individuals Who Have Not Applied for Local Tax Refunds, Aiming for Full Refund by the End of February

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, is attracting attention by actively promoting the 'Local Tax Unclaimed Refund Recovery' through proactive administration.

According to Gurye-gun on the 21st, as of January, there are about 300 cases of unclaimed local tax refunds amounting to approximately 6 million won that taxpayers have not claimed. Most of these are small amounts related to automobile tax adjustments due to vehicle scrapping or ownership transfer, and income tax adjustments following national tax corrections.

Gurye-gun plans to identify the contact information of refund recipients in January and send notification texts and make phone calls. If the plan proceeds as scheduled, most refunds are expected to be completed by February.

County Governor Kim Sun-ho stated, “Even if the unclaimed refunds are small amounts, we plan to promote the recovery of unclaimed refunds to build trusted administration for the residents and ensure they receive local tax benefits.” He added, “We will continue to pursue proactive administration in all areas to realize advanced administration that residents can trust.”
