[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Three people aboard a motorboat that was sinking about 800m south of Munseom, Seogwipo City, Jeju Island, were rescued by the Coast Guard.


The Seogwipo Coast Guard announced that at around 11:17 a.m. on the 21st, motorboat A (3.04 tons) sank due to flooding about 800m south of Munseom, Seogwipo, and three people aboard, including Mr. B (57 years old, male, Seogwipo City), were rescued.


Mr. B and two others had departed from Wimi Port at around 9:30 a.m. that day on motorboat A for fishing. While en route, flooding suddenly occurred near the engine room, and they reported the incident to the Coast Guard at around 10:53 a.m. The Seogwipo Coast Guard dispatched a rescue team and the Seogwipo Police Station’s coastal rescue boat to save them.


At the time of rescue, all three crew members were reported to be in good health, and the Seogwipo Coast Guard is investigating the exact cause of the accident.
