[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 21st, Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, visited the Seoul Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Center to inspect the response situation to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), including the transport of confirmed patients by ambulance, and encouraged the officials.
Minister Jeon received a report at the Seoul Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Center on the status of COVID-19 patient transport in Seoul and the overall situation management system such as 119 emergency call reception, and discussed COVID-19 infection prevention measures for paramedics with the officials.
He then visited the 119 General Situation Room and the Ambulance Situation Management Center, listened to the difficulties faced by paramedics working on site via video call, and spent time communicating while encouraging the paramedics who have been exhausted from transporting confirmed patients for a long time.
At this occasion, Minister Jeon emphasized, “As the importance of vaccination is increasing to overcome COVID-19, the Fire Agency should also actively support it,” and urged, “Ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, please pay special attention to safety inspections targeting fire-vulnerable facilities such as nursing homes.”
