Yeosu-si Social Economy Village Integrated Support Center 'Launch'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 21st that it will launch the ‘Yeosu City Social Economy Village Integrated Support Center’ next month to revitalize the social economy within the region.

The ‘Yeosu City Social Economy Village Integrated Support Center’ will serve as a control tower for building cooperative networks among social economy enterprises, discovering and nurturing social economy organizations, and providing education and counseling.

The city selected the entrusted organization as ‘Sangsaengnamu Corporation’ (Chairman Park Jong-du) and signed a private consignment agreement at the mayor’s office in Yeosu City Hall on the 20th.

Sangsaengnamu Corporation will manage the ‘Yeosu City Social Economy Village Integrated Support Center’ for three years from next month until 2023, supporting the discovery and nurturing of local social enterprises and market development, and leading the realization of social value through projects related to social economy, village communities, sharing economy, and fair trade.

Until now, social economy enterprises and corporations hoping to enter the social economy sector, who have complained about inconveniences due to the absence of an intermediate support organization for the social economy, are expected to receive practical management support and consulting tailored to their environment.

A city official stated, “With the launch of the support center, we expect social economy enterprises to have sustainable self-reliance, create stable jobs, and revitalize the local community to bring vitality to the region,” adding, “We will do our best to discover and nurture social economy enterprises.”

Meanwhile, Yeosu City currently operates 21 preliminary social enterprises, 22 social enterprises, 28 village enterprises, and 8 self-support enterprises.

The integrated support center will move to the second floor of the newly constructed ‘Yeosu City Social Economy Joint Sales Center,’ which is scheduled to be completed in March, and carry out its entrusted duties there.
