[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A woman in her 40s was arrested by the police for injuring her 8-year-old biological daughter with a weapon.

The Guro Police Station in Seoul announced on the 21st that they arrested A (44) on the spot on suspicion of special injury under the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse.

According to the police, A is suspected of injuring her biological daughter B (8) with a weapon at an apartment in Guro-gu, Seoul, around 6:30 p.m. the previous day.

B suffered a 7cm stab wound on her back and was transported to the hospital, but fortunately, her life is not in danger.

The police who arrived at the scene arrested A on the spot, and it was confirmed that the biological father was not at home at the time.

During the police investigation, A reportedly stated, "The National Tax Service is wiretapping me, and I committed the crime to prove my innocence."

The police urgently hospitalized A in a psychiatric hospital for a mental evaluation, and they plan to decide on A's custody and other matters once the evaluation results are available.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that there had been no prior reports of child abuse against B before this incident.
