Overseas Travel Packages Organized for the First Time in a Year Since COVID-19
Safety Measures Established Including Compliance with Quarantine Guidelines and COVID-19 Refund Policies
Planning of Overseas Airspace 'No-Landing Flight Concert' Packages Linked with Famous Singers' Performances
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 21st that it will introduce customized travel products tailored for the COVID-19 era, such as the industry's first "no-landing flight concert" and "combined domestic and international accommodation vouchers."
Lotte Homeshopping stated, "To overcome the difficulties faced by the travel and airline industries together, we have proactively planned customized travel products since last year and are introducing them for the first time in the industry." These products comply with government quarantine guidelines and operate on the principle of 100% refunds if canceled due to COVID-19.
On the 24th, they will exclusively launch the country's first no-landing flight product combined with a performance by famous singers. The round-trip 3-hour flight will circle over Japanese airspace before landing, re-entering the departure airport without immigration procedures. Trot singers Jinseong, Park Hyunbin, Kim Suchan, Na Sangdo, and Kim Yongim will perform live on board. Under the concept of a "Concert in the Sky," the flights will operate 10 times in total in collaboration with domestic low-cost carriers (LCCs). The flights will strictly follow government social distancing measures such as mandatory mask-wearing and prohibition of eating, as well as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's in-flight quarantine guidelines. For safety, boarding gates and duty-free areas will be operated separately.
Earlier, on the 22nd, under the theme "Again, Excitement," the company resumed overseas travel products for the first time in the industry since COVID-19. They are selling 3-night accommodation vouchers at the 5-star Novotel hotels located in Da Nang and Phu Quoc, Vietnam. The package includes round-trip pickup and breakfast, offered at up to 40% discounted prices compared to before. The product can be used for up to one year from the date when self-quarantine is lifted after overseas travel and can be substituted with a 4-night hotel voucher linked to domestic locations such as Busan and Jeju. On the 31st, they will introduce the industry's first "Marriott Hotel Integrated Accommodation Voucher," which includes stays, breakfast, and late check-out at JW Marriott Seoul, Yeouido, Sheraton Songdo, and D-Cube City. During the broadcast, a lottery event will be held to provide suite room accommodation vouchers worth about 30 million KRW per hotel.
In the future, as part of "Again, Excitement" Season 2, they plan to sell accommodation vouchers for famous resorts in non-quarantine travel areas such as Henann Resort in the Philippines and Vinpearl Resort in Vietnam. Considering the increased demand for camping due to COVID-19, they will also introduce "glamping accommodation vouchers" that allow stays at glamping sites across five regions nationwide on a rotating basis.
Kim Deokyoung, Head of Living Division at Lotte Homeshopping, said, "We planned unique travel products focusing most on safety and compliance with quarantine guidelines to support the travel and airline industries severely affected by COVID-19." He added, "We will continue to offer a variety of travel products that consider customer needs and circumstances in preparation for the post-COVID era."
