[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-eun] Following the revelation that Cho Min, daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, passed the national medical licensing exam, a petition requesting the suspension of Cho Min's medical license appeared on the Blue House's national petition board on the 20th.

On that day, a post titled '** requests the suspension of Yang's medical license' was uploaded to the national petition board. As of 8 a.m. on the 21st, the petition had garnered over 2,100 supporters.

The petitioner, who identified themselves as a doctor with 16 years of experience specializing in emergency medicine, stated, "The wife of former Minister Cho Kuk is currently a criminal under detention related to her daughter's admission fraud." They added, "In this situation, the direct party, ** Yang, is not facing any sanctions and has not only graduated from medical school but also passed the medical licensing exam normally and will work as a doctor in the future."

They continued, "This does not align with any part of this government's motto, 'Opportunities are equal, processes are fair, and results are just.' Considering that in the past, the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, who was at the center of the previous administration's state affairs manipulation, was expelled solely on suspicion, this is highly contradictory in terms of fairness and social justice."

The petitioner said, "If we wait for Jung Kyung-shim's trial to conclude through the third trial, the first trial has already been confirmed, so at least ** Yang's medical license should be suspended and maintained if found innocent in the final outcome." They added, "If the sentence is confirmed and the medical license is revoked, the medical institutions where ** Yang would work and the patients under care will undoubtedly suffer."

They further stated, "If such a situation is tolerated, it will cause great emotional wounds and frustration to parents of examinees nationwide, the examinees themselves, and future examinees." They added, "It will also create a sense of alienation among all doctors across the country who entered medical school through equal opportunities, studied hard, became doctors, and are dedicated to patient care."

Moreover, "Upon hearing the recent news of ** Yang passing the medical licensing exam and seeing former Minister Cho Kuk's celebratory posts on social media, I felt both deep sorrow and anger." They said, "Those in power, even if they are criminals or under suspicion, shamelessly post personal celebrations on social networks, receiving congratulations and boasting. As a citizen, not as a doctor, but as a father raising a child, this is truly heartbreaking."

Finally, the petitioner earnestly requested, "Please take measures to suspend ** Yang's medical license at least until Jung Kyung-shim's trial concludes, so that moral consensus can be gained from all people of the Republic of Korea, not just supporters of former Minister Cho Kuk and this government, and to prevent social deprivation."
