[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will provide health masks (KF94) to all residents.
The district has prepared a total of 2.08 million KF94-grade masks certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, distributing 5 masks per resident.
The envelopes containing the masks will also include a leaflet with COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
A district official explained that this mask support was decided in response to the prolonged measures of 'social distancing' and the trend of COVID-19 spread.
The district completed distribution to vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients at the end of last year and started providing masks to all residents from the 19th.
The distribution period is from January 19 to 25, and masks will be delivered directly to each household sequentially through employees of each neighborhood community center, community leaders, and volunteers from professional organizations.
Households that do not receive masks during this period can visit their local neighborhood community center with identification to collect them.
Non-face-to-face doorstep delivery is the principle, and during distribution, strict compliance with quarantine rules such as temperature checks, hand sanitizer use, and mask-wearing will be enforced.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu also visited the Anam-dong community center, where mask distribution was in full swing on the 20th, to offer support.
Mayor Lee said, “When we faced the unprecedented COVID-19 situation last year, residents rolled up their sleeves to protect Seongbuk themselves,” and “Residents carried out disinfection work in every alley and took the lead in mass-producing and donating masks in cooperation with sewing factories.”
He added, “Thanks to these grateful people, the administration gained the strength to overcome the crisis,” and “With gratitude in these masks, Seongbuk-gu wants to give back to its residents this time.”
Meanwhile, Seongbuk-gu continues to conduct inspections and guidance activities on compliance with quarantine rules for multi-use facilities, religious facilities, and gatherings/events according to the 'social distancing' stage measures.
A district official said, “We ask for active participation in protecting the safety of our families and neighbors by making indoor and outdoor mask-wearing a habit and refraining from private gatherings through individual compliance with quarantine rules,” and “To prevent asymptomatic transmission, we also urge people to get tested at temporary screening clinics even if they have no COVID-19 symptoms.”
