[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG HelloVision announced on the 21st that it has delivered donations raised through employee regular contributions and netizen participation in a ‘double fundraising’ campaign to underprivileged groups in the local community.
The donations, totaling approximately 48 million KRW, raised jointly by employees and netizens, were distributed to 33 vulnerable households and 602 individuals in the community who have been struggling due to the cold wave and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Through this donation, LG HelloVision shared its employee culture of sharing under the motto ‘Sharing hearts through small acts’ with citizens. The total number of netizens who participated in the fundraising was 6,644, about six times the number of LG HelloVision employees.
LG HelloVision began fundraising in March through its employee regular donation program called ‘Maeumnanum’ (Sharing Hearts). ‘Maeumnanum’ is a sharing program where employees voluntarily donate a portion of their salary, inspired by the idea of sharing warmth with the community for the price of a cup of coffee or a meal.
To mark the first year of launching ‘Maeumnanum,’ LG HelloVision conducted ‘double fundraising’ in collaboration with Naver Happy Bean. Employee donations and netizen contributions were matched 1:1 to double the donation amount.
Based on an employee survey, LG HelloVision selected five themes: children and youth, elderly, disabled, environment, and multiculturalism, and, together with Happy Bean, identified nine specific cases in need of support.
Netizens chose donation boxes according to their individual areas of interest and participated in the fundraising, which successfully exceeded the target amount within three weeks.
Lee Sujin, head of LG HelloVision’s CSR team, said, “We thank the employees and netizens who shared their warm hearts for our neighbors in the community,” adding, “We will establish LG HelloVision’s unique culture of sharing through donation and volunteer programs that allow us to share warmth through small acts.”
