[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] The candidates from the People Power Party running in the Seoul mayoral by-election gathered in one place to express their confidence in 'victory in the Seoul mayoral race.'
On the 20th, the People Power Party Seoul Metropolitan Party and the Rebound Special Committee held an event titled 'The Lost 10 Years of Park Won-soon's Administration, a Promise for a Rebound' at the central party headquarters.
At the event, candidates running in the April Seoul mayoral by-election were present. Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won said, "There is no place to retreat now. Winning this Seoul mayoral election is the only way for us to win the presidential election next year and return to common sense," adding, "I will do my best with a humble attitude alongside other candidates for the victory of the People Power Party and the opposition."
Former Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said, "Over the past 10 years, due to the mistakes and faults of my successor, the harsh criticism has often been directed at me, which has been a heavy burden and a source of guilt," adding, "I will accept the punishment willingly but also take responsibility. I will repay the citizens of Seoul and the people with greater responsibility." He continued, "Seoul is coming back," and added, "I will approach this with the determination to make Seoul run again on the front lines."
Seocho District Mayor Cho Eun-hee said, "I will be a capable and confident mayor who gets things done. This time, I am confident that we can reclaim the lost Seoul," adding, "I hope the People Power Party becomes a party that attracts people in their 20s and 30s, so that Seoul can be reclaimed and the presidential election can be a happy election."
Former lawmaker Oh Shin-hwan also raised his voice, saying, "Seoul has been stagnant for 10 years. A competent mayor who can vigorously turn the growth clock of Seoul is needed," adding, "Due to the failures of the Moon Jae-in administration and COVID-19, self-employed small business owners have suffered greatly. We need a warm mayor who protects the citizens of Seoul, a brave mayor who judges the Moon Jae-in administration and sets fairness and justice straight."
Professor Kim Geun-sik of Gyeongnam National University (Chairman of the Seoul Songpa-byeong Party Committee) said, "For the power of the primary to create synergy, it must be a beautiful primary that gathers energy. I hope we avoid hurting others or causing bad feelings as much as possible," adding, "A dynamic primary will enable the opposition candidates outside the party to confidently win."
Park Sung-joong, a member of the National Assembly and chairman of the People Power Party Seoul Metropolitan Party, emphasized, "This occasion must be the moment we confirm our mayoral victory," adding, "If the Seoul mayoral candidates conduct a beautiful primary, they will definitely be able to win."
