Gwangsan Fire Station in Gwangju Operates Year-Round Reward Reporting System for Illegal Acts Related to Firefighting Facilities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Im Jongbok) announced on the 20th that it is operating the ‘Fire Facility Illegal Activity Reporting Reward System’ to eradicate illegal activities related to fire facilities.

The Fire Facility Illegal Activity Reporting Reward System is a system established to encourage citizens’ voluntary reporting of acts such as closure or blockage of fire facilities and evacuation facilities, thereby raising awareness about fire facilities and maintaining a voluntary fire safety management system.

The reporting targets include cultural and assembly facilities, sales facilities, transportation facilities, lodging facilities, entertainment facilities, and complex buildings.

Reports can be made if you discover acts such as ▲leaving fire pumps in a broken state ▲closing or blocking fire facilities ▲closing or damaging corridors, stairs, entrances, or fire doors used for fire compartmentalization, or installing obstacles that hinder the function of evacuation or fire doors.

As of the reporting date, individuals aged 19 or older registered as residents in Gwangju Metropolitan City under the ‘Resident Registration Act’ can report by attaching proof documents to a separate report form and submitting it to the fire station chief in charge of the reporting target via visit, mail, fax, or information communication network.

If the reported content is confirmed to be an illegal act, the reporter will receive a cash reward of 50,000 KRW or a traditional market Onnuri gift certificate worth 50,000 KRW after review by the reward payment screening committee.

Chief Im Jongbok said, “Emergency exits and evacuation routes are pathways directly linked to life in case of emergencies,” and added, “We hope illegal activities will be eradicated through citizens’ reports by checking the location and closure status of emergency exits.”
