Kim Ki-hyun: "Governor Lee Jae-myung's unprecedented flattery to President Moon... a tearful courtship"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, criticized Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, calling him a 'sycophant.' He interpreted Lee's evaluation of President Moon Jae-in's New Year's press conference as an attempt to court President Moon's supporters.

On the 20th, Kim criticized on Facebook, saying, "Lee's attempt to court President Moon and the Moonbats (a derogatory term for staunch pro-Moon supporters) is pitiful."

Earlier, on the 18th, after President Moon's New Year's press conference, Lee expressed on Facebook, "I once again thought how fortunate it is that President Moon was there." Lee also stated his intention to "take the lead in protecting people's livelihoods and the economy so that President Moon's vision can be realized."

Regarding Lee's post, Kim harshly criticized it as "an unprecedented level of flattery worthy of being called a 'Moon (文) eulogy.'"

He questioned, "What exactly has President Moon done amid the once-in-a-century global infectious disease crisis? Did he endanger the safety of the people by delaying vaccine procurement? What exactly is there to be grateful for?" Kim evaluated, "In this country barely holding on thanks to the efforts of medical staff, quarantine authorities, and the great sacrifices of each citizen, the self-praise by politicians who meddle is an eyesore."

Kim urged, "While you may have to give up everything, including your liver and gallbladder, to reach out and plead for help from the fiercely pro-Moon faction you once condemned, do not forget that such behavior of clinging to power for immediate gain will only be seen by the majority of the people as that of a sycophant."
