8 Partner Organizations Sign Business Agreement... Enhancing Citizen Happiness Index with Integrated Services
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 20th that it signed a business agreement the day before with the pilot project implementing agencies to strengthen the health and welfare delivery system this year, aiming to enhance users' welfare awareness through integrated health and welfare services and to establish a Yeosu-type public-private cooperation model.
The signing ceremony was attended by the heads of eight organizations, including the Yeosu Community Social Security Council, which is the project implementing agency, social welfare centers (Ssangbong, Sora, Munsu, Mipyeong), senior welfare centers (Yeosu, Dong-Yeosu), and the Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled.
The attendees resolved to mutually cooperate to establish the ‘Yeosu-type, Seomseom Yeosu Health and Welfare Platform’ by playing a gateway role for welfare services and discovering and supporting linkage and cooperation models between eup, myeon, dong (townships and neighborhoods) and public-private services.
This year, with a budget of about 1.164 billion KRW, the project will promote ▲case management (discovering and managing crisis households, linking services), ▲village welfare (customized housing environment improvement), ▲home welfare (customized nutritious side dishes, home services), and ▲health support (hospital treatment accompaniment services, specialized medical support and linkage).
The pilot project area has been expanded from 10 eup, myeon, dong last year to all 27 eup, myeon, dong, and the target group has also been expanded to include all vulnerable groups such as children and the disabled, including the elderly.
To establish a community-based integrated care system where the public and private sectors jointly respond to local social issues, nine staff members have been assigned to the eight pilot project implementing agencies, and nursing public officials have been deployed to strengthen welfare and health functions in eup, myeon, dong, promoting visiting health consultations.
Mayor Kwon Oh-bong of Yeosu said, “With this agreement, I hope that the public-private cooperation system will be established as a foundation to create a happy Yeosu without welfare blind spots and to raise the happiness index of citizens.”
Previously, Yeosu City was selected for the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘Health and Welfare Delivery System Strengthening Pilot Project’ last year and carried out various projects for the elderly.
