Gwangju Seo-gu Completes COVID Testing for 1,870 People Including Yangdong Market Merchants

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 20th that it has completed COVID-19 testing for 1,870 workers, including merchants of Yangdong Market.

This mass testing was conducted at the request of the market merchants' association. They secured a list of pre-designated test subjects and encouraged testing by identifying those who had not been tested each day.

As a result of the testing, one confirmed case was detected early, preventing further spread of COVID-19. So far, no additional confirmed cases related to Yangdong Market have occurred.

The merchants themselves have taken the initiative in creating a safe market by implementing special disinfection around Yangdong Market, strengthening social distancing among merchants, and adhering to individual hygiene rules.

Son Jungho, president of the Merchants' Association, said, "All merchants are working together to make Yangdong Market safe from infectious diseases," and added, "We hope that more citizens will visit Yangdong Market this year, which has endured a difficult year."
