Honam University Operates 'Big Data Utilization Startup Item Discovery Camp'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The LINC+ Project Group and the Startup Education Center at Honam University announced on the 20th that they operated a "Non-face-to-face Startup Item Discovery Camp Using Big Data," which was participated online by about 20 enrolled students who have great interest in startups, over two days starting from the 18th.

This camp was designed to nurture (prospective) entrepreneurs equipped with the capabilities, insight, and strategic mindset to utilize big data in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. It consisted of checking startup trends related to big data and artificial intelligence, establishing keywords and analyzing social data, marketability analysis, and non-face-to-face item market analysis through defining core values.

The Honam University LINC+ Project Group and Startup Education Center focused on providing participating students with opportunities to understand the basics of big data and its operational methods, discover startup items through case analysis, develop business models, and verify startup items using big data by identifying customer needs.

On the second day of the camp, presentations of non-face-to-face startup item market analysis reports prepared by each team were held with the attendance of five dedicated mentors per team, and separate awards were given to the first and second place teams with excellent performance.

Kim Woo-jo, director of the Honam In Startup Management Cooperative, who operated this camp, said, "The camp was designed with the action learning method in mind, where participating students themselves engage in the problem-solving process. After selecting startup items through team building, the participants used big data market analysis tools such as Naver Data Lab and Item Scout to analyze keywords, social data, and marketability. Each team was assigned a dedicated mentor to support team activities."
