YouTube Extends Suspension of Trump Channel for 7 Days

[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] YouTube announced on the 19th (local time) that it will extend the suspension of U.S. President Donald Trump's channel for an additional seven days.

According to major foreign media, YouTube decided to extend the suspension, citing "ongoing concerns about violent incidents." Previously, on the 12th, YouTube had suspended President Trump's channel for at least one week, stating that he violated the service regulations prohibiting incitement to violence.

President Trump was criticized for using social networking services (SNS) to encourage his staunch supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol on the 6th, where the certification of President-elect Biden's victory was taking place.

When related IT companies were criticized for not taking timely and appropriate measures, Twitter permanently suspended President Trump's account, and Facebook also indefinitely blocked his account. Google announced that if President Trump violates the service regulations three times within 90 days, his channel will be terminated.
