Jin Air Surpasses 10,000 Sales of 'In-Flight Meals Enjoyed at Home' Jin Air In-flight Meal Concept Refrigerated HMR ‘Jinny Kitchen The Real’


[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jin Air announced on the 20th that it surpassed 10,000 sales of its in-flight meal concept refrigerated home meal replacement (HMR) ‘Jinny Kitchen The Real’ in about a month since its launch, becoming the first domestic airline to do so. This means one unit was sold every 4 minutes.


Jin Air evaluated this as a result of quickly reflecting consumers' desire to find unique experiences that evoke travel memories as the ‘stay-at-home’ time lengthened due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).


In fact, consumers shared small joys on social media by posting staged photos that made it seem like they were traveling using boarding passes with the same packaging and cooking instructions as the in-flight meals, or photos reminiscing about past travel destinations.


To commemorate the sale of 10,000 units of Jinny Kitchen The Real, Jin Air is holding an event. Customers who purchase the three-set Jinny Kitchen The Real by the 7th of next month will be entered into a draw to win 10 round-trip tickets for the Gimpo~Jeju route. Customers wishing to participate must purchase the product during the event period and leave a comment on the event page of the website. Winners will be announced on the event page on the 17th of next month.


Meanwhile, Jin Air opened the ‘Jinny Store’ last December. The Jinny Store goes beyond the previous concept of paid in-flight sales limited to passengers and allows any Jin Air member to purchase a variety of products such as electronics, household goods, and health supplements.


Jin Air said, "It seems that many customers visit because it soothes the longing for overseas travel and reminds them of the excitement of traveling," adding, "We will add new menus soon to better cater to the diverse tastes of our customers."
