[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Korea Federation of SMEs announced on the 20th that it has produced a Smart Handbook that explains smart factory terminology in an easy-to-understand way.
The handbook helps readers easily grasp smart factory terms not through simple dictionary definitions but through metaphors.
For example, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is described as "our factory's digital ledger," MES (Manufacturing Execution System) as "the all-purpose production management coach," and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) as "our company's digital sales director."
The handbook also includes manufacturing site innovation cases extracted from the smart factory construction process conducted jointly by the Federation of SMEs and Samsung Electronics, such as ▲toolbox organization ▲worksite aisle line separation ▲material warehouse management ▲machine operator management ▲customized carts and workbenches.
Small and medium enterprises wishing to use the Smart Handbook materials (PDF) can download them from the Smart Factory Support Project notices on the Federation of SMEs website (www.kbiz.or.kr).
Jung Wook-jo, Head of the Innovation Growth Division at the Federation of SMEs, stated, "We hope the Smart Handbook will raise interest in smart factories among SMEs and cooperatives and help promote smartization."
