Kim Gwang-nam Appointed as New Chief of Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju... Declares 'Fair Police'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Gwang-nam has been inaugurated as the 87th chief of the Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju.


At the inauguration ceremony held on the day, Chief Kim declared his commitment to becoming a "fair police officer."


Chief Kim emphasized, "We must consider the role and position of the police in a rapidly changing police organization, including 'quarantine police activities' due to COVID-19, the demand for investigative autonomy following the independence of investigative authority, and the beginning of the autonomous police system."


He continued, "The primary mission of the police is 'safety,' which perfectly protects the lives and property of the people," adding, "To fulfill this mission, we must become a 'fair police,' and I will be a chief who realizes 'First In Last Out' together at the scene."


Before the inauguration ceremony, Chief Kim paid tribute to the 75 police officers who died in the Gwangsan area in front of the Chungui Monument inside the Gwangsan Police Station, honoring their sacrifice.


Meanwhile, Chief Kim Gwang-nam is from Cheongyang, Chungnam, and joined the police as the 42nd class of the executive candidate course.


He has served as the chief of Goheung Police Station in Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, head of the Criminal Division of Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, chief of Wando Police Station in Jeonnam, chief of Cheonan Dongnam Police Station in Chungnam Provincial Police Agency, and head of the Investigation Division in Chungnam Provincial Police Agency.
