[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Hapcheon County Council in Gyeongnam held its first regular meeting of the new year on the morning of the 19th in the council members' briefing room, listening to the major administrative work plans and current issues for January.

This regular meeting was the first held this year due to the cancellation of the opening ceremony and regular meeting following the elevation of the COVID-19 quarantine level in early January.

County Governor Choi Yong-nam, along with department and bureau heads and officials in charge of current issues, attended and reported on the progress of major projects.

Additionally, time was allocated for discussions to enhance council members' understanding and seek directions for active council operations in response to changes in the legislative environment, including guidance on the revised Local Autonomy Act and changes in public officials' property registration reporting, as well as consultation on the annual council session schedule for this year.

Chairperson Bae Mong-hee, in her greeting, said, “As we welcome the Year of the Ox, I hope all county residents find happiness, and I ask everyone to pay attention to whether there are any difficulties among the elderly and vulnerable groups around us due to the cold wave and COVID-19.”

She continued, “Avian influenza has occurred in nearby Jinju, Geochang, and Hadong, causing difficulties for livestock farmers, so please do your best to block and quarantine livestock infectious diseases that are approaching at our doorstep.”
