[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Kim Sun-ho, the governor of Gurye County, participated on the 19th in the ‘Children’s Traffic Safety Relay Challenge’ to establish a culture of traffic safety within school zones.

This relay campaign, organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, is a nationwide movement aimed at establishing a culture that prioritizes the protection of children within school zones and forming a national consensus on preventing children's traffic accidents.

Participants in the relay post photos of placards expressing safety slogans along with hashtags on social media and nominate three next participants in turn.

Governor Kim Sun-ho joined the campaign upon being nominated by Yoo Geun-gi, the governor of Gokseong County, delivering the message to practice within school zones: “Stop at 1!, Look both ways at 2!, Wait for 3 seconds!, Prevent the 4 dangers!”

He nominated Kang Eun-seok, chief of Gurye Police Station, Kim Young-hoon, director of Gurye Office of Education, and Kim Jae-mu, chairman of Jeollanam-do Sports Council, as the next participants to continue the relay.

Governor Kim said, “Last year, Gurye County completed the installation of yellow traffic lights and yellow carpets within school zones, establishing basic facilities to prevent children’s traffic accidents,” and added, “Now, through improving residents’ law-abiding awareness and spreading a culture of traffic safety, we will create a Gurye without children’s traffic accidents,” urging active cooperation from the residents.
