[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Yangsan City in Gyeongnam conducted comprehensive COVID-19 testing for transportation workers to provide public transportation services that citizens can use with confidence.
The testing targets included 494 bus drivers, 889 taxi drivers, 334 charter bus drivers, and 52 special transportation service workers, totaling 1,769 individuals.
The diagnostic tests were conducted at Bethesda Hospital's screening clinic by transportation sector from the 18th to the 29th.
On weekdays, testing hours were from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, and on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. All costs were fully covered by the city.
A city official stated, “Since public transportation workers such as bus and taxi drivers have the most contact with citizens, there is concern about asymptomatic infections. We ask each company’s workers to participate in testing on their designated dates.” He added, “We will do our best to ensure citizens can use public transportation safely through proactive testing of transportation workers and thorough disinfection of public transportation.”
