[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 19th that from the 13th to the 15th, a three-day major work plan briefing session for 2021 was held in the county office situation room to efficiently promote key projects of the 7th local government administration, attended by County Governor Shin Woo-cheol, deputy governors, directors, department heads, and team leaders.


The briefing session proceeded in the order of reporting major achievements in 2020, reporting major county administration work plans for 2021, in-depth discussions on the plans, and suggestions from each department.


First, Governor Shin praised the efforts of the staff, saying, “Despite the COVID-19 situation last year, we actively carried out administration, securing a budget of 92.6 billion KRW for the marine healing industry, securing 103.5 billion KRW in project funds through the selection of 33 public contest projects including the Fishing Village New Deal 300 project, and achieving the great success of being finally selected as the site for the National Subtropical Arboretum.”


Furthermore, the projects to be focused on in 2021 include the marine healing industry, marine bioindustry, construction of a marine tourism hub city, establishment of the National Subtropical Arboretum, upgrading Local Road No. 830 between Wando and Goheung to a national highway, continuous construction of the Nohwa-Soan island bridge, early commencement of the second phase of the Gwangju-Wando expressway, inclusion of Wando in the Honam-Jeju high-speed railway route, and the 2022 Wando International Seaweed Expo, with meticulous orders to ensure smooth progress.


Wando County Governor Shin Woo-cheol requested, “This year is the inaugural year for the industrialization of marine healing, an important year for our county to take a step forward, so I ask all public officials to pool their capabilities and do their best to implement policies that the residents can empathize with.”
