Second among 17 Metropolitan Governments... Gaining Popularity with Entertaining and Moving Content
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 19th that its official YouTube channel 'Boiso TV' surpassed 100,000 subscribers and received the Silver Play Button from YouTube headquarters.
The Silver Play Button is a commemorative plaque awarded by Google's headquarters in the United States to YouTube channels that exceed 100,000 subscribers.
The milestone of 100,000 subscribers for 'Boiso TV' was achieved 1 year and 10 months after its full-scale operation began in March 2019, making it the second among the 17 metropolitan local governments nationwide, following Seoul.
'Boiso TV' has attracted much attention by differentiating itself from other government-operated YouTube channels through fun and vibrant emotional videos featuring Gyeongbuk Province's major policies, culture, tourism, and specialty products.
It gained popularity by consistently producing content such as the nationwide COVID-19 campaign (#NowAgainGyeongbuk, #LongerThanThisYear, #stay_home), the 'Our Neighborhood Pride Series' supporting local small businesses, and 'What Are You Doing Now' starring public officials to resonate with the public.
Riding on this growth, in 2020, it swept the grand prizes in three SNS award categories, including the 10th Korea SNS Awards Grand Prize (Minister of Science and ICT Award).
To celebrate Boiso TV surpassing 100,000 subscribers, Gyeongsangbuk-do will hold an event on Boiso TV until the 26th. Participation is possible by leaving congratulatory comments and subscription verification on the event video within Boiso TV. Winners will receive generous prizes such as gifticons.
Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, emphasized, "In the new year, we will focus on producing entertaining videos that can continuously attract public interest and participation, as well as content that helps livelihoods such as small business owners and specialty products to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19."
