Gwanak-gu, Announcement for 3rd Employment and Labor Ministry Support Fund Application for Special Employment and Freelancers

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has announced the application guide for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 3rd round of support funds for special-type workers (hereinafter referred to as "teukgo") and freelancers.

The "3rd Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund" is an emergency support program provided to stabilize the livelihoods of teukgo and freelancers who are struggling due to the COVID-19 crisis. On the 15th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that 1 million KRW will be uniformly paid to new applicants.

The support targets are teukgo and freelancers who did not receive the 1st or 2nd emergency employment stability support funds, provided labor between October and November 2020, and earned income of 500,000 KRW or more.

The payment requirements are ▲annual income of 50 million KRW or less in 2019 ▲income in December 2020 or January 2021 decreased by 25% or more compared to the comparison target (monthly average income in 2019, or income in December 2019, January 2020, October or November 2020, selectable) ▲not enrolled in employment insurance during the relevant period.

If registered as a business operator with the National Tax Service as of the announcement date, January 15, 2021, the applicant is excluded from support; however, an exception is made for teukgo in 14 occupations covered by industrial accident insurance who are registered as business operators.

Applications for the 3rd support fund can be submitted online through the Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund website from 9 a.m. on the 22nd until 6 p.m. on February 1. If online application is difficult, applicants can visit the local employment center in person with ID and required documents from January 28 to February 1 to apply.

The 3rd support fund will be paid in a lump sum after the review is completed, with plans to complete payment by the end of February. For more details, inquiries can be made to the dedicated call center.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "I hope this will help stabilize the livelihoods of teukgo and freelancers in the region who are going through a more difficult time than ever," and added, "We will actively promote so that all eligible applicants can apply within the period."
