Live Broadcast on YouTube by Gokseong-gun Future Education Foundation on the 22nd
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Gokseong County Future Education Foundation announced on the 18th that it will hold an online inaugural concert for the Gokseong County Youth Orchestra (named Gokseong Kkum Nolja Orchestra) at 5 p.m. on the 22nd.
The youth orchestra, started so that children in Gokseong can learn instruments and nurture sensitivity and dreams without educational environment disparities, was founded in July last year centered on middle schools in Gokseong (Gokseong, Seokgok, and Okgwa Middle Schools), with about 140 members participating from elementary to high school students.
This concert, the first stage to celebrate and commemorate the founding of the youth orchestra, will be held online without an audience due to COVID-19 and will be live-streamed through the Gokseong County Future Education Foundation’s YouTube channel.
The performance will be led by conductor Lee Junhaeng, presenting a total of 10 pieces including African Symphony and Waltz No. 2.
Notably, baritone Kim Kihoon, a graduate of Gokseong Okgwa High School who won 2nd place in the 2019 Tchaikovsky Competition and is actively performing, will participate in a collaborative stage, delivering an emotional performance created by seniors and juniors together. The event will be hosted by traditional musician Oh Junghae.
Youth Orchestra General Director Yoo Sungwoo said, “Despite the difficult situation due to COVID-19, all members practiced hard and prepared for the performance,” adding, “Although still inexperienced, we ask the audience to praise and support the children’s best efforts.”
He continued, “Starting with this concert, we will continue to guide the members to grow into healthy members of society who care and cooperate through orchestra activities.”
