Catching Two Rabbits: Tackling Odor and Fine Dust Simultaneously
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that it will operate a private monitoring system from January this year to establish an odor and fine dust monitoring system for creating clean air quality free of odor and fine dust.
The odor and fine dust private monitors to be operated this time are a system established to build a constant monitoring and crackdown system to prevent illegal excessive emissions and environmental pollution from sources generating odor and fine dust such as livestock farms, workplaces, construction sites, and illegal incineration.
The county selected two people through a private monitor recruitment announcement in December last year, and from January this year, they plan to patrol odor and air emission workplaces frequently and monitor construction site dust and illegal incineration according to the fine dust seasonal management system to induce reduction of odor and fine dust.
In addition, according to the "Jeollanam-do 2nd Fine Dust Seasonal Management Promotion Plan," the county will actively promote restrictions on operation of grade 5 emission vehicles (when emergency reduction measures are issued), emission vehicle inspections, public and private energy demand management in winter, special inspections of key fine dust sites, prevention of illegal incineration of rural farming waste and residues, and promotion of fine dust response guidelines.
A county official said, "Through the operation of private monitors, we will do our best to catch two rabbits: reducing fine dust and continuously reducing odor," and added, "To breathe clean air, voluntary efforts by emission workplaces and active participation of all residents to eradicate illegal waste incineration are necessary."
