[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Jo Inbin, the wife of comedian Ahn Sangtae, who recently sparked controversy after reportedly causing noise complaints with the downstairs neighbors, has once again stirred controversy by posting an image referring to the said neighbors as so-called 'keyboard warriors.'
Jo, who works as an illustrator, posted a video of her work on her Instagram on the 18th, writing, "The poor celebrity living upstairs, the poor keyboard warrior living downstairs."
The term 'keyboard warrior' refers to internet users who cause trouble by engaging in provocative comment fights on online communities or social networking services (SNS). Although Jo did not explicitly specify the celebrity or keyboard warrior, some netizens speculated that she was metaphorically referring to her family and the downstairs neighbors. Notably, Ahn Sangtae also 'liked' the post.
Earlier, a downstairs neighbor of Ahn Sangtae, identified as Mr. A, posted on an online community on the 12th with the title, "Comedian Mr. X, please be careful about the noise between floors."
In the post, Mr. A expressed stress caused by the noise generated by Ahn Sangtae's family.
In response, Ahn Sangtae told 'Hankyung.com' in an interview, "Due to COVID-19, we couldn't go to academies or go out, so I think that person was also under stress," but added, "The doorbell rings five times a day, and there was a misunderstanding about interior construction happening next door, so I also responded sensitively," expressing his frustration.
He continued, "We can't keep telling our growing child not to run, so the only option left is to move," and said, "I feel very sorry that the child was running. We are looking into moving to a first-floor unit without neighbors below or a piloti-style house."
Jo also pointed out that Mr. A's post was somewhat exaggerated.
Through a message on her Instagram profile, Jo wrote, "Wouldn't it have been resolved faster if you had revealed who you were by commenting 'I'm the downstairs neighbor' and talked to us?" and added, "Please stop trying to damage our image with false information that is not aimed at resolving the conflict."
In response, Mr. A posted again, saying, "I can say for sure that I have never written any comments, yet I am being treated as a malicious commenter without evidence, just based on memory," and asked, "'If you had said 'I'm the downstairs neighbor,' wouldn't it have been resolved? You say you'll sue if I come to find you, so how can I visit? And if anyone should come, it should be you."
He added, "I didn't even go out to throw away the trash, just in case you might come," and claimed, "There was no attempt to apologize in person or any contact at all."
