Among 199 Graduates in February 2021, 45 Became Public Officials, 5 Joined Public Enterprises, and 25 Entered Military Careers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Sangju Technical High School, a specialized high school in the Gyeongbuk region, has maintained its reputation as a "technical civil servant academy" by producing dozens of successful civil service exam candidates every year in recent years.
In this regard, on the 18th, Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, invited Kwon Hee-tae, Chairman of Sangju Technical High School, Principal Park Yong-tae, and other related personnel to the provincial office to encourage their efforts, as the school produced 76 successful candidates for public institutions last year, accounting for 38.2% of its graduates.
According to Gyeongbuk Province, Sangju Technical High School, which opened in 1970, has produced the highest number of successful civil servant candidates among high schools in Daegu and Gyeongbuk every year since 2013, when 9 students passed the civil service exam, with ▲8 in 2014 ▲17 in 2015 ▲17 in 2016 ▲22 in 2017 ▲22 in 2018 ▲24 in 2019.
Last year, 17 students passed the civil service exam, making it the high school with the most civil servant candidates in Gyeongbuk. This marks the eighth consecutive year since 2013 that the school has held the record for the highest number of successful candidates among high schools in the Gyeongbuk region.
Despite the severe employment difficulties caused by COVID-19 last year, 45 out of 199 third-year graduating students passed the civil service exam, achieving an unprecedented success rate of 22.6%. Among the Gyeongbuk local government civil servant successful candidates, 17 out of 25 total recruitment spots (68%) were from Sangju Technical High School, demonstrating results befitting a "civil servant academy."
Sangju Technical High School has also produced 5 successful candidates in public enterprises such as Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation, Daegu Facilities Corporation, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and Korea National Railway Corporation, as well as 26 successful candidates in specialized military positions including the Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps non-commissioned officer fields.
Gyeongbuk Province stated that the secret to achieving such remarkable results at a small rural high school lies primarily in the passion and efforts of the school's chairman, principal, and faculty, with thorough customized learning and focused education tailored to each field for employment.
It was made possible by Sangju Technical High School's unique customized employment program called the "5-Track," which systematically manages individual students from exam preparation to final acceptance, along with meticulous preparation through mock interviews and other methods.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo of Gyeongbuk Province encouraged the school officials, saying, "I hope that you will continue to develop various employment programs without ceasing so that you can achieve employment success and maintain the reputation of the nation's top employment specialty high school."
