Partial Restrictions Eased on Cafes and Religious Facilities
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that it will extend social distancing level 2 for two more weeks until the 31st, following the government's decision.
Even if social distancing remains at level 2, escalation by region and industry is possible depending on the confirmed case situation.
Cafes are allowed to serve food inside the store like restaurants, and only takeout and delivery are permitted from 9 PM to 5 AM. It is strongly recommended to limit the time spent inside the store to one hour when two or more people order beverages or desserts.
Religious activities allow in-person worship with up to 20% of seating capacity instead of non-face-to-face services. Meetings or meals hosted by religious facilities are still prohibited, and all gatherings and events other than regular religious activities are banned at prayer centers, training centers, and Seongo facilities. Convenience facilities within apartments and educational lecture programs at community centers, which had been suspended, are also allowed to operate again.
Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, said, “Due to prolonged quarantine measures, small business owners and residents are enduring deep pain and fatigue through the cold winter,” and added, “We hope that the extended quarantine measures, with the hope of waiting for spring, will curb the spread of COVID-19 and become a stepping stone to return to daily life.”
