Gwangju Dong-gu Public App 'Dudream' Establishes Itself as a Communication Channel

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The mobile public app of Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek), ‘Dong-gu Do Dream’ has firmly established itself as a real-time communication channel for Dong-gu residents, surpassing 24,000 members.

According to Dong-gu on the 18th, the number of members was about 19,000 in early 2017 when Do Dream was first launched, increasing steadily to 20,000 in 2018, 22,000 in 2019, and about 24,700 as of January this year.

‘Dong-gu Do Dream,’ which has gained great word-of-mouth among residents, allows users to check real-time updates such as daily COVID-19 situation reports, useful ‘District News,’ exhibition and performance schedules at local art galleries and small theaters, and recruitment for various classes under ‘Cultural News.’

Simple reports of daily inconveniences, proposals for ideas to improve district administration through the ‘Participation Plaza,’ and ‘Policy Voting’ to determine the direction of district policies greatly contribute to strengthening grassroots autonomy capabilities.

Especially recently, as non-face-to-face communication has expanded due to the impact of COVID-19, Do Dream has played a vital role as an ‘essential daily app.’ In fact, the ‘Do Dream User Satisfaction Survey’ conducted over one month in November last year showed an average satisfaction rate of 92.8% among respondents.

Thanks to continuous efforts since September 2018 to improve user convenience by adding functions, design content, and app feature enhancements every year, it is analyzed that the app has achieved high satisfaction levels, with users accessing Do Dream more than once a day or at least three times a week.

In particular, among the Do Dream menu options, the ‘News’ section is positively evaluated for delivering district news quickly and accurately; the ‘Participation Plaza’ section is praised for convenient complaint submission and processing; and the ‘Policy and On-site Voting’ expands residents’ opportunities to participate in district administration.

Installation and registration are simple, so even seniors over 60 can easily download the app by searching ‘Gwangju Dong-gu Office’ or ‘Dong-gu Do Dream’ on Google Play or the App Store, and anyone can sign up by simple verification with their phone number.

Following the satisfaction survey, Dong-gu plans to conduct a ‘Function Improvement Survey’ targeting residents and staff in the first half of this year, and based on the results, will contribute to strengthening non-face-to-face administration, activating resident participation, and improving satisfaction with the Participation Plaza section through functional enhancements.

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “‘Dong-gu Do Dream,’ which enables district news, policy voting, and daily civil complaints, has become an essential daily app for Dong-gu residents,” and added, “We will continue to improve convenience features and provide administrative services that enhance the quality of life for residents.”
