[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Oh Shin-hwan, former People Power Party lawmaker who declared his candidacy for the Seoul mayoral by-election, criticized President Moon Jae-in on the 18th for saying during the New Year's press conference that it is "difficult to answer" questions regarding the easing of real estate loan regulations when it comes to "specific and professional details," stating, "President Moon does not understand the problem at all," and added, "This is a matter of interest."

In a statement released that day, former lawmaker Oh said, "Is the question 'Can non-homeowning ordinary citizens and young people buy their own homes when the average apartment price in Seoul exceeds 1 billion won, but the mortgage loan ratio is capped at 40% and only supply is increased?' considered professional?"

Oh sharply criticized, "If President Moon had even the slightest interest in the side effects caused by his policies, such an absurd answer would not have come out," and said, "Moon Jae-in is the problem."

Regarding President Moon's plan to announce a real estate supply measure before the Lunar New Year holiday, former lawmaker Oh said, "Currently, even mid-term loans for houses priced over 900 million won are blocked. If you keep tying the hands and feet of non-homeowners like this and only increase supply, do you expect ordinary citizens to suddenly win the lottery and be able to buy a house?" He added, "Stop trying to cover up with supply measures that may never come, and please present a comprehensive real estate policy including a realistic easing of loan regulations."
