Promotion of Support in 4 Stages: Intention to Settle - Preparation for Migration - Execution of Migration - Settlement
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] The return-to-farming and rural migration support policy promoted by Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, is attracting attention as it is yielding effects leading to population inflow.
This year, the plan is to promote systematic support by dividing the return-to-farming and rural migration process into four stages.
According to Gurye-gun on the 18th, as a result of the active return-to-farming and rural migration support policy implemented last year, 416 households and 523 people who returned to farming or migrated to rural areas were attracted.
Among all return-to-farming and rural migrants, the return-to-farming ratio was 93 households and 125 people, accounting for 24%, while rural migration was 323 households and 398 people, 76%, showing a higher rural migration ratio.
The county is promoting a step-by-step ‘Return-to-Farming and Rural Migration Attraction Support’ project in response to aging and population decline.
Gurye-gun divides the return-to-farming and rural migration process into four stages: ‘Intention to Settle,’ ‘Preparation for Migration,’ ‘Execution of Migration,’ and ‘Settlement after Migration,’ and provides systematic support according to each stage.
The ‘Intention to Settle’ stage is for prospective return-to-farming and rural migrants who hope to return or migrate. Gurye-gun plans to actively participate in events attracting return-to-farming and rural migrants to inform them of the county’s advantages and share various support projects.
The ‘Preparation for Migration’ stage is a phase where one tries out return-to-farming and rural migration in advance. Gurye-gun supports them with programs such as ‘Living in the Countryside in Advance’ and rural-type social job creation projects.
The ‘Execution of Migration’ stage is when return-to-farming and rural migration is carried out in earnest. Gurye-gun operates a ‘Residency-type Agricultural Startup Support Center’ settlement program that provides systematic return-to-farming and rural migration education while living in Gurye for one year.
The ‘Settlement after Migration’ stage is when return-to-farming and rural migration is completed. Gurye-gun promotes programs to help settlement, such as return-to-farming and rural migration workshops, neighbor invitation events, and programs for integration with local residents.
Especially, in the preparation for migration stage this year, a new ‘Living in the Countryside in Advance’ program will be promoted, allowing participants to experience rural life in advance through helping with farm work and agricultural practice.
County Governor Kim Sun-ho stated, “We will establish a stable settlement foundation through customized programs for return-to-farming and rural migrants and create a communicative local atmosphere by operating various programs together with local residents.”
