Strengthening Public Institution Recruitment Linkage Measures
"Need to Create Private Sector Jobs"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, announced on the 18th that "this year, public institutions plan to newly hire more than 26,000 people, an increase of about 1,000 compared to last year."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong stated during the opening remarks of the '2021 Public Institution Recruitment Information Fair,' held online on the same day, "Considering the difficult employment conditions, we will significantly expand the number of hires in the first half of the year by more than 45% compared to the previous year, leading the public sector to take the initiative in early recruitment."
He added, "We will expand experiential jobs at public institutions to around 22,000 and start them promptly in January to actively provide young people with opportunities to gain work experience." He also said, "We will further strengthen the 'linkage with recruitment,' such as by providing incentives during hiring."
Furthermore, he stated that public institutions will take the lead in creating momentum for economic recovery and structural change.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "Major public institutions such as Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Korea Electric Power Corporation, and Korea Expressway Corporation plan to invest a record-high 65 trillion won this year, focusing on areas such as housing stability and the Korean New Deal."
Regarding youth employment difficulties, he said, "We understand well the pain of the current youth and job seekers who are experiencing more hardship than any other generation or age group," and added, "The fundamental solution is to naturally create a vibrant environment where quality jobs are actively generated in the private sector."
