Mercury Reports 117.8 Billion KRW in Sales Last Year: "Momentum to Fully Accelerate This Year"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Mercury announced on the 18th that it recorded sales of 40.3 billion KRW and operating profit of 3 billion KRW in the fourth quarter of last year, achieving annual sales of 117.8 billion KRW and operating profit of 3.4 billion KRW. The pre-tax net profit for the entire last year was 10.8 billion KRW.

Sales in the fourth quarter of last year increased by 47.3% compared to the same period the previous year, and operating profit turned positive. Operating profit increased by 182% compared to the previous quarter. This was due to increased sales of home Wi-Fi 6 products and Extender APs applying Easy Mesh technology, which Mercury launched domestically for the first time to telecom companies.

Due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), traffic has surged sharply because of remote work and online education, making the home Wi-Fi environment an important issue. Major telecom companies are focusing on improving the home Wi-Fi environment. Mercury exclusively launched the home wired/wireless router (AP) using Wi-Fi 6 technology at kt for the first time domestically in the second half of last year. In addition, it has been exclusively releasing Extender APs applying Easy Mesh technology to kt since the second half of last year, greatly contributing not only to resolving Wi-Fi dead zones at home but also to improving the Wi-Fi environment.

A company official stated, "Despite poor performance in the first half of last year, performance improved from the second half due to increased sales of Wi-Fi 6 and Easy Mesh Extender APs," and added, "This year, since Wi-Fi 6 and Easy Mesh Extender APs will be actively supplied to telecom companies, we expect to achieve even better results."

He continued, "We plan to launch new communication terminal devices such as 5G CPE, AI terminals, IoT modules, and home servers this year, and public Wi-Fi projects led by the government and local governments are expected to become new growth engines for Mercury."
