Last Year, Gangwon-do Innovation City Local Talent Employment Rate at 26.5%... 1% Increase Compared to Previous Year
[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Last year, the number of new hires at public institutions relocated to Gangwon region innovation cities under the 'Innovation City Act' was 332. Among them, 88 were hired from students native to Gangwon Province, resulting in a local talent hiring rate of 26.5%.
Gangwon Province announced on the 18th, "We plan to expand the local talent hiring rate to the 30% range by next year to prevent local youth from leaving the province after university graduation in search of quality jobs and to enable them to find employment at public institutions."
According to the province on the same day, last year's local talent hiring rate increased by 1% compared to the 25.5% hiring rate in 2019, and was 2.5% higher than the legally mandated target hiring rate of 24%.
The annual target local talent hiring rates based on the Innovation City Act are 18% in 2018, 21% in 2019, 24% in 2020, 27% in 2021, and 30% in 2022.
The province plans to promote projects that can provide practical and direct assistance to students and job seekers in the province who wish to find employment at public institutions this year.
To this end, during the first half of the year, a joint recruitment briefing session linked with public institutions will be held to provide employment information, counseling, self-introduction letter consulting, and special lectures on National Competency Standards (NCS) strategies, among various employment support programs.
Through dedicated employment coordinators stationed at the Gangwon Province Innovation City Development Support Center, the entire process of preparing for employment at public institutions will be consulted both online and offline, including customized job application preparation support.
In particular, starting this year, 'visiting consulting' has been added, where coordinators directly visit universities and employment specialized institutions within the province.
Additionally, online courses such as the 'Wise Employment Preparation Project,' NCS education, employment English, interview consulting, and other programs will be expanded, along with a free lending service for employment-related reference books.
Furthermore, the province plans to provide middle and high school students with experiential opportunities (special lectures, practical training) related to jobs connected to innovation city public institutions to stimulate interest in public institutions.
Last year, 30 high school students in the province participated in job experience events at two public institutions (National Health Insurance Service, Korean Red Cross), and this year the number is expected to expand to about 100.
Ahn Gwonyong, Director of the Gangwon Province Global Investment and Trade Bureau, stated, "This year, we will accelerate the promotion of Innovation City Season 2 to make innovation cities a hub leading the joint development of the entire Gangwon Province."
