10.25-inch Cluster and Wireless Updates for Navigation Standardized
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Hyundai Motor Company launched the hydrogen electric vehicle ‘2021 NEXO’ with enhanced safety and convenience features on the 18th. The improved NEXO model is priced over 1 million KRW lower than the previous version.
The 2021 NEXO features a 10.25-inch cluster, wireless navigation updates (OTA), rain sensors, and safety power windows for the front passenger seat as standard convenience and safety specifications. Additionally, the vehicle’s voice recognition function has been improved.
The 10.25-inch cluster, which is 3.25 inches larger than the previous model, enhances driver visibility and applies various color graphics according to driving modes such as Normal, Eco, and Eco+, creating an enjoyable driving environment. The wireless navigation update function is also standard, automatically updating the latest navigation information. The water discharge function is a device that allows water to be expelled through the muffler when the driver presses the water discharge button, preventing floor contamination caused by generated water discharged from the vehicle’s muffler. The rain sensor automatically adjusts the optimal wiper operation frequency according to rainfall in the wiper auto mode.
Considering passenger safety, the safety power window function, which automatically lowers the window if an obstacle is detected while closing, has been expanded from the driver’s seat to the front passenger seat.
Furthermore, to help drivers focus on driving, the voice recognition vehicle control range has been expanded, allowing drivers to adjust airflow and direction, as well as control the heating of seats, steering wheel, and side mirrors by voice commands.
The price of the 2021 NEXO is 67.65 million KRW for the Modern trim and 70.95 million KRW for the Premium trim. This is a 1.25 million KRW reduction compared to the previous price. Despite the product improvements, the price was lowered to achieve carbon neutrality. Considering last year’s Seoul city subsidy of 35 million KRW (22.5 million KRW from the national government and 12.5 million KRW from local governments), the actual purchase price for customers is 32.65 million KRW for the Modern and 35.95 million KRW for the Premium.
A Hyundai Motor official said, “By applying various convenience features reflecting customer needs as standard on the NEXO, we will enhance driver satisfaction,” and added, “We expect the NEXO, the ultimate eco-friendly vehicle embodying Hyundai’s technology, to continue leading the eco-friendly vehicle market.”
Hyundai Motor will also launch marketing activities in line with the release of the 2021 NEXO. Customers who sign a contract by the 19th of next month will receive a 100,000 KRW deposit support. Additionally, if an existing NEXO driver recommends the 2021 NEXO to a buyer and they purchase the vehicle, both the referrer and the referee can enter an event to win up to 2 million KRW worth of charging support funds (prepaid cards) each.
