Gangnam-gu Holds 'Seolmaji Warmth Scarf Knitting' Sharing Event

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) is conducting the "Seolnal Warmth Scarf Knitting" event for socially marginalized groups such as the elderly and disabled who are struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, until the 27th.

The "Warmth Scarf Knitting" event, now in its 9th year, is organized by the learning clubs affiliated with the Gangnam-gu Women's Competency Development Center and local residents who knit scarves themselves to deliver to neighbors in need and practice sharing.

This year, a video demonstrating how to knit the scarf has been released on the Women's Competency Development Center's YouTube channel, and the event is conducted in an ontact (online contact) format where participants knit at their own homes.

Those who wish to participate can receive a kit containing patterns and knitting needles, complete the scarf by referring to the video, and submit it to the center by the 27th.

Applications can be made through the Women's Competency Development Center website or by phone until the 20th, and the participation fee is 10,000 KRW.

Choi Kyung-hee, head of the Women and Family Division, said, "Last year, 136 scarves were made and delivered to elderly living alone, disabled persons, and others through five social welfare facilities in the area," adding, "We hope this sharing activity, carried out with a spirit of togetherness, consideration, and respect, will be a small comfort to vulnerable groups."
