[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] A 50-year-old Korean medicine doctor was sentenced to prison for continuously sexually assaulting a 20-year-old nursing assistant affiliated with his hospital.
On the 17th, Judge Kim Seung-hwi of the Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 3 announced that he sentenced Korean medicine doctor A (55) to 8 months in prison and ordered him to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program on charges of sexual assault.
A was charged with repeatedly assaulting B, a 20-year-old nursing assistant working at his hospital, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on October 26, 2019. A is accused of forcibly hugging B in the parking lot and stairs of B's residence and repeatedly touching or fondling B's buttocks and other body parts.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed that despite B's clear refusal, A approached B saying, "I want to see how you live," and dragged B into the elevator. When B refused to enter the house and got off on the first floor of the elevator to take the emergency stairs, A followed B and forcibly assaulted B, saying, "Let's have a glass of water, ramen, a cup of coffee, or order delivery food."
The presiding judge stated the sentencing rationale, saying, "Considering the serious nature of A's crime and the significant sexual humiliation the victim likely felt, a prison sentence was imposed."
