Geumcheon-gu, Volunteer Program Contest Announcement

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will hold a public contest for the ‘2021 Neighbor Well-being Volunteer Program’ from the 18th to the 27th to create a ‘Caring, Safe, and Secure Society.’

The contest areas include all volunteer activities aimed at creating a safe society, such as ‘Overcoming COVID-19,’ ‘Social Welfare,’ ‘Community Development,’ ‘Environment,’ and ‘Education.’

Collaborating with local institutions and volunteer demand organizations, activities include checking on neighbors isolated due to COVID-19 and delivering daily necessities, disinfection and sterilization, distribution and production of quarantine supplies, support for quarantined individuals, environmental campaigns such as the Plastic Zero Campaign, good consumption campaigns to support small business owners, and non-face-to-face education activities (such as life sports and language) utilizing residents’ talents.

This contest targets volunteer organizations active in the region, such as ‘Volunteer Camps,’ ‘Volunteer Clubs,’ ‘Middle and High School Student Volunteer Clubs,’ and ‘Corporate Volunteer Groups,’ with a total budget support of 30 million KRW.

Organizations wishing to participate can download related forms such as the local subsidy application and project plan from the ‘Notices and Announcements’ section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website, complete them, and submit them by visiting the Geumcheon-gu Volunteer Center, by mail, or by email (namusong@geumcheon.go.kr).

Based on the submitted project plans, the final selected organizations will be announced in March after reviewing ‘project effectiveness,’ ‘program impact,’ and ‘ripple effect.’

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Through the Neighbor Well-being Volunteer Program contest, we hope to establish a well-being network in various areas including overcoming COVID-19,” and added, “We will make further efforts to activate a lifestyle-based volunteer culture that can shine even more in difficult times.”
