Andong-si Supports Settlement of Young Startup Farmers and Successor Agricultural Managers ... Recruiting 21 People

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Andong City announced on the 17th that, following last year, it will continue to implement various policies this year to foster young farmers in order to secure future manpower amid the decline in agricultural labor and the aging of rural areas.

First, applications for young startup farmers and prospective successor agricultural managers will be accepted until the 27th, and a total of 21 people (15 young startup farmers and 6 agricultural managers) will be selected through document and interview evaluations.

They will be supported with up to 1 million KRW per month for three years as farming settlement funds, and up to 300 million KRW as successor farming development funds, aiming to nurture competitive young startup farmers. The 15 young startup farmers and 10 successor agricultural managers selected last year have all settled as professional agricultural managers in various fields such as fruit farming, livestock, and horticulture.

An official from Andong City stated, "With support for fostering young farmers, we expect an increase in young farmers, improvement in the agricultural labor structure, and job creation," adding, "We will do our best to help young people interested in starting farming to enter the agricultural sector."
